भारतीय किसानों की मुख्य पहचान उनकी जोत (landholding) के आकार से होती है, क्योंकि यही आकार यह तय करता है कि उनकी पहुंच संसाधनों और आधुनिक तकनीक तक कितनी होगी। इसे मुख्य रूप से तीन श्रेणियों में देखा जा सकता है🙏जय जवान जय किसान 🙏🌾🌴
सीमांत और लघु किसान (Marginal and Small Farmers)
भारत के लगभग 86% किसान इसी श्रेणी में आते हैं। इनके पास 2 हेक्टेयर (लगभग 5 एकड़) से कम जमीन होती है। जमीन का आकार छोटा होने के कारण ये किसान अक्सर बड़ी मशीनों या महंगी तकनीक का उपयोग नहीं कर पाते और मुख्य रूप से पारंपरिक तरीकों और पारिवारिक श्रम पर निर्भर रहते हैं।
मध्यम और बड़े किसान (Medium and Large Farmers)
इन किसानों के पास 2 से 10 हेक्टेयर या उससे अधिक जमीन होती है। अपनी बड़ी जोत के कारण, इनके पास आधुनिक कृषि यंत्रों (जैसे ट्रैक्टर, कंबाइन हार्वेस्टर), संस्थागत ऋण (बैंक लोन) और उन्नत सिंचाई प्रणालियों तक बेहतर पहुंच होती है।
भूमिहीन और पट्टेदार किसान (Landless and Tenant Farmers)
- यह वह बड़ा वर्ग है जो दूसरों की जमीन किराए पर या बटाई पर लेकर खेती करता है। जमीन का मालिकाना हक न होने के कारण इन्हें सरकारी सब्सिडी और किसान क्रेडिट कार्ड (KCC) जैसी वित्तीय सुविधाओं का लाभ लेने में अक्सर कठिनाई होती है।
